Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (RI's FM) Sugiono emphasized the government's commitment to strengthening relations and partnerships with Russia across various sectors for the mutual prosperity of both countries.

"We are committed to strengthening our relationship and partnership for the mutual prosperity of both of our people," the minister noted in a joint statement with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow, Tuesday (June 17), as quoted from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website, here on Wednesday.

In the statement, Foreign Minister Sugiono reiterated Indonesia's readiness to expand cooperation in areas, including economy, trade, and investment. Both sides also agreed to explore additional potential areas of cooperation that have not yet been developed.

He noted that trade and investment ties between Indonesia and Russia should be continuously explored and strengthened.

Sugiono also reaffirmed Indonesia's commitment to implementing the outcomes of the 13th Indonesia-Russia Joint Commission Meeting on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation, which took place on April 14-15, 2025.

In the investment sector, he also invited Russian companies to engage in strategic investment cooperation with Indonesian business actors.

"I have already mentioned that on February 24th, President Prabowo Subianto had already established Danantara—Indonesia’s sovereign wealth funds—which will also function as an investment vehicle that can partner with Russia’s investment authority or businesses to tap into untapped potentials," he affirmed.

The partnership also covers a wide range of areas encompassing renewable energy, technical security, agriculture, and the development of AI and cyber technology, as well as people-to-people exchanges.

The minister affirmed that the government seeks greater opportunities for Indonesian students and officers to come and study Russian, as this would further strengthen cooperation and relations between the people of both countries.

"I am pleased to acknowledge that this visit has been most productive," Sugiono remarked.

In the meantime, the minister noted that several key deliverables across various sectors have been successfully finalized, with some in the pipeline and expected to be signed during President Subianto's upcoming visit.

In conclusion, Minister Sugiono offered Indonesia’s assistance in facilitating communication, resolving differences, and helping to reduce regional and global tensions, so that the government can contribute to peace in various parts of the world.

"Regarding the developing situation in the Middle East, this is something that we also need to address. We agreed that any escalation must be stopped and that any dispute should be brought to the negotiation table," the minister remarked.
